Dear MWC registrant,
There has been much commentary in recent days on Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona stemming from the global impact of coronavirus. A number of large exhibitors, including Ericsson, LG, Sony, and Intel, have decided against participating in the show this year. At present, we understand that the congress’s organizers, GSMA, will issue a statement this Friday on whether there will be any changes to its current plans. We will update you accordingly once GSMA has come to a decision.
In the meantime, please do avail yourself of the following sources of information on coronavirus and how to keep yourself safe and healthy (in all cases, please check back regularly for updates):
- GSMA statement: The most recent statement from GSMA on MWC 2020 and coronavirus (in English only).
- World Health Organization (WHO) information page on coronavirus: For information on the outbreak and on best practices to maintain your health and safety, please review the WHO website on coronavirus and follow its recommendations on how to protect yourself and others.
- Government of Canada travel advice and advisory: Please familiarize yourself with the travel advisory on the Novel Coronavirus in China that the Government of Canada has issued with respect to the outbreak and please check back frequently for updates.
- Registration of Canadians Abroad: As always, the Government of Canada recommends that all Canadians use the Registration of Canadians Abroad system to advise us of your travel plans outside of Canada. This registration allows us to reach you in case of an emergency and, in more drastic cases, to coordinate effective strategies during civil unrest or natural disaster. We strongly encourage you to use the registration system both for this trip and for all of your international travel.
