The Kaloom Flow Fabric solves several key issues in datacenter networking. Simplification and full automation of the fabric bring up, significant throughput and latency improvements through complete vSwitch offload and optimization of complex service chains, vFabric isolation for complete separation and management of tenants and sub-tenants, and meaningful power and cost savings through reduced server CPU utilization.
What is your solution (product, software, service) and what differentiates it from the competition?
The Kaloom Software Defined Fabric utilizes new programmable forwarding plane ASICs, which is unlike all existing fabrics, which utilize a fixed forwarding plane ASIC and only provide a programmable control plane. There are fundamental limitations in having a fixed forwarding plane and as such, Kaloom, with a programmable forwarding plane, allows far greater flexibility to achieve much needed optimizations for new virtualized applications especially in the developing world of 5G and IoT. In addition to the new benefits of programmable forwarding plane, the full automation of bring up, recovery and expansion, as well as integrated virtual switching and routing, and vFabric tenant isolation, Kaloom’s solution utilizes industry standard distributions, open source and OCP components to provide a flexible and easily maintainable system with all the advantages of performance, latency and cost improvements.
